Question: My truck seems to be juddering on high revs but the basic checks are all coming back ok, what else could it be?

Answer: Check your fuel pressure…

A 2011 FH tractor unit with a D13C engine came into the workshop experiencing a lack of power and engine juddering when pulling hard. Basic checks were performed on the fuel system (filters, fuel lines, etc) all were ok.

A fuel pressure test was done and it was subsequently revealed to be low. After previously experiencing this issue, where the fault was identified to be a banjo style non-return valve (X) in the fuel line at the back of the fuel filter head (part number 930011) this was replaced, a second fuel pressure test was carried out and the results showed a significant increase in fuel pressure putting it back within the specified parameters. The vehicle was road tested and found to perform correctly.
